Virtual Interfaces (VIF) for AWS Direct Connect
Virtual Interfaces (VIFs) are logical network connections on an AWS Direct Connect link that route specific traffic types to VPCs, AWS public services, or Transit Gateways.
"I need a predictable, high-bandwidth path to only my VPCs or to AWS public services — not everything on the internet."
A VIF is a logical partition of a Direct Connect physical connection that carries specific routes and segregates traffic: private VIFs for VPCs, public VIFs for AWS public endpoints, and transit VIFs for connecting to Transit Gateway attachments and multiple VPCs.
