RPO vs RTO
RPO (Recovery Point Objective) is how much data loss you can tolerate; RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is how long you can tolerate being down.
"I can accept losing up to an hour of data, but I can't be offline for more than 15 minutes."
RPO is the maximum age of files/data you are willing to lose during a disaster; RTO is the maximum time allowed to restore service after that disaster.
