Outcome Metrics vs. Process Metrics
Outcome metrics measure what happened (who was hired); process metrics measure how your hiring system behaved (who advanced and where drop-off occurred).
"I can see we hired fewer people from Group X, but I don't know which step in our process caused it."
Outcome metrics show final results by group (e.g., hires, offer rates); process metrics track each stage of the funnel (e.g., screening pass rate, interview-to-offer conversion) so you can locate where disparities arise.
