Evaluating search precision vs recall
Precision measures how relevant your search results are; recall measures how many of the relevant candidates you actually found.
"I keep missing strong candidates when I tighten the query, but loosening it gives me hundreds of irrelevant resumes."
Precision = proportion of returned candidates who are truly relevant; recall = proportion of all relevant candidates that your search returns. Tuning queries trades one against the other.
