Invention assignment clauses
A contract term where an employer secures rights to inventions an employee creates related to the employer’s business or using its resources.
"I want to hire creative people but make sure our company owns the work they invent while employed."
An invention assignment clause requires an employee to assign to the employer any inventions created during employment that fall within defined scope (e.g., during work time, using company resources, or related to the employer’s business). It clarifies what must be disclosed and how ownership and patent filings will be handled.
