Employment contract fundamentals
A legally binding employment contract is a document that creates enforceable rights and obligations between employer and worker, whereas a non-binding offer letter expresses intent without creating full legal duties.
"I want my offer to be secure — not just a nice note someone can walk away from."
An employment contract becomes legally binding when it shows clear mutual agreement (offer + acceptance), consideration (something of value exchanged), definite terms, and intention to create legal relations; a non‑binding letter typically lacks one or more of those elements or explicitly states it's not a contract.
