Tagging conventions (semantic versioning basics)
A consistent way to label release points in your Git history using vMAJOR.MINOR.PATCH tags.
"When someone asks 'which release fixed that bug?', I want a predictable tag to point at."
Semantic-version tags use three numbers—MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH—prefixed (commonly with "v") to communicate incompatible changes, added features, and bug fixes respectively. Tags in Git mark commits so those human-readable version labels can be referenced and released.
