Metric vs KPI
A metric is any raw number you track; a KPI is a metric chosen and framed to measure progress toward a strategic hiring goal.
"I can see lots of numbers on my dashboard, but which one actually tells me if we're improving hires that matter?"
A metric is a factual measurement (e.g., time-to-fill); a KPI is a metric plus a target and context that signals success or failure against strategy (e.g., reduce time-to-fill to 30 days to meet hiring roadmap).
