16. package.json "types" / "typings" entrypoints
How the "types" / "typings" field in package.json exposes typings for consumers.
JavaScript
package.json "types" / "typings" entrypoints
A package.json "types"/"typings" field tells TypeScript (and other tools) where to find type declarations for your package so consumers get autocompletion and static checking.
"I want TypeScript users of my JS package to get types without forcing them to install extra packages or guess filenames."
The "types" (or "typings") field in package.json points to a .d.ts or .ts file that describes your package's public API; TypeScript automatically reads that file when someone imports your package. It exposes type information to consumers even if the package is written in plain JavaScript.
